1.4.0 Update


1.4.0 Update is finally out!

I tried my best to wrap up this update before the school starts. Some decent features were added to the game and more will be added in distant future.
Here is the complete list of changes:

  1. Added Settings:
    • Added slider for changing Master volume, since the game does not have a soundtrack, there are no SFX or Music channels.
    • Added a checkbox to enable or disable CROSSHAIR. It is disabled by default.
    • Added buttons to save the changes made to settings, or reset every setting to default.
  2. Ammo:
    • Your spaceship has ammo now. You can only shoot when you have enough ammo.
    • Shooting will decrease your ammo. Ammo is always and constantly increasing at a base level.
    • If you stop shooting for a short amount of time, your ammo income will increase.
    • If you stop moving, your ammo income will increase.
    • You can increase your max ammo in shop.
  3. Effect system revolutionized:
    • Effects are now timed. Meaning if you obtain an effect, it will disappear after some fixed time. If you pick up an effect which you already have, it will restart the effect's timer. You can not have more than 2 different effects at the same time
    • The effects determining your shooting side (Those traingular effects with black lines in them) are different than other effects. They don't have timer and are permanent.
    • Removed the "Double Bullet" effect because it was lame.
    • Added "Infinite Ammo" effect instead, using the same sprite as the "Double Bullet" effect. This new effect gives you infinite ammo to shoot.
    • Added a new effect called "Shield" which gives the player a circular shield. Enemies inside the shield can not shoot, and they will get damaged by the shield periodically. The damage amount is 1. It is obvious that enemies will try to avoid entering the shield. Enemies outside the shield will shoot the player, but their bullets will scatter after hitting the shield.
  4. Other changes:
    • Every enemy now has a slightly better chance to drop good effects.
    • Added "Damage Number" to pop on any entity that gets damaged, showing the amount of damage taken.
    • Shoot delay for angers is now randomized in a short range.
    • New SFX is used in the game which is created by me. I used sfxr to create them.
    • Fixed stone or anger spawing inside the player at the start of the game.
    • New scene change system
    • Credits scene redecorated and removed freesound.org because SFX is changed.
    • Health drop value is now based on player's max health.
    • Added particles for any entity getting hit, stone being destroyed and shield getting hit.
    • Updated the Godot version to 4.2.2

I am planning to add more effects next year. See you until then.
